BioBE members Ann Womack and Tim O’Connor recently attended the Amazon-PIRE Symposium and Workshop at the Biosphere 2 in Tucson, AZ.  There they met with colleagues from the University of Arizona, Harvard forest, the University of São Paolo, and a number of other Brazilian universities to discuss the future of Amazon forests under climate change.  Ann and Tim worked with collaborators Kenia Wiedemann and Kolby Jardine to elucidate the interaction between airborne microbes and atmospheric chemistry.  Approaches developed for studying airborne microbes and chemistry outdoors will likely inform the BioBE center’s work indoors.
